Besty Privacy Policy
Besty is a parent-guided device. A child can use it only after their parent or legal guardian has set it up, authorized it and given explicit consent. We collect as little as we can, we never sell data, and you stay in control of what Besty knows. This policy works alongside our Terms and Conditions.

1. Who we are and who this is for
Besty is run by AWLADNA AI LTD, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17471150), with its registered office at 20 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU, United Kingdom ("Besty", "we", "us"). We are responsible for the personal data described here.
This policy covers the Besty device, the Besty Parent app, our website besty.life, and the AI that powers conversations on the device. It's written for parents and guardians, because you are our customer and the account holder. Children don't have accounts with us.
We follow the Saudi Personal Data Protection Law (PDPL) and UK data protection law. Where the two differ, we apply the stricter rule.
2. Parent-guided by design
- You set it up. Besty only works after you set it up in the Besty Parent app, which you sign in to with a code sent to your phone.
- You give explicit consent. Before your child can use Besty, you confirm you're their parent or legal guardian and authorize them to use it. Until you do, Besty won't hold conversations with your child.
- You set the rules. You choose Besty's values, boundaries and personality, and you can change them anytime.
- You see what matters. You can read conversation history, you approve every memory, and you get safety flags.
- You can stop anytime. Close your account and Besty stops talking to your child.
3. What we collect
| What | Examples | Where it comes from |
|---|---|---|
| Your details | Name, email, mobile number, delivery address, order details | You, when you order or sign up |
| Your child's profile | First name or nickname, age, language, interests | You, in the parent app |
| Family settings | Values, boundaries, personality settings, and any family details you choose to share (like a sibling's or pet's name) | You, in the parent app |
| Conversations | Your child's voice, processed live and not stored, and a written transcript of each conversation | The device, after the button is pressed |
| Memories | Short notes like "loves dinosaurs" | Suggested by Besty, kept only if you approve |
| Safety flags | Alerts when a conversation suggests your child may be upset or unsafe | Created by Besty and sent to you |
| Technical data | Device ID, software version, Wi-Fi status, battery level, error logs | The device and the app |
When Besty listens. The microphone is off by default. It turns on when your child presses the button, and stays on for that conversation, so Besty can hear your child even while it's talking. It turns off when the conversation ends.
Guest mode. Another child can use Besty only in guest mode, with your permission and their own parent's OK. The conversation is saved in your history labeled "Guest", and you get safety flags from it. We don't ask who the guest is.
What we don't collect:
- Voice recordings. Your child's voice is processed live to generate a reply, then discarded. We don't keep recordings, and neither does our AI provider.
- Location. The device has no GPS.
- Photos or video. The device has no camera.
- Card details. Stripe handles payment. We never see your full card number.
- Advertising or analytics data. There are no ads in Besty and no analytics tracking in the app.
4. How we use it
We use data only to:
- run conversations and fit them to your child's age, language and your settings
- show you conversation history and send you safety flags
- deliver your order, run your account and answer support requests
- keep Besty working and secure
- meet our legal and tax duties
Your consent. Everything involving your child rests on your explicit consent as their parent or guardian, given in the Besty Parent app before your child first uses Besty. You can withdraw it anytime by closing your account. Besty then stops working for your child, because it has to process what they say in order to reply.
Who at Besty can see conversations. Only a small number of named people on our development and support team. They read transcripts only to fix problems, improve safety, and help you when you contact us.
We never:
- sell or rent anyone's data
- use your child's data for advertising or marketing profiles
- let our AI providers or anyone else train AI models on your child's conversations
- design Besty to keep your child talking longer
5. How the AI works
Besty's conversations run on ElevenLabs' conversational AI platform, set up by us with child-safety rules and the settings you choose.
When your child talks, the audio is sent securely to ElevenLabs, which generates Besty's reply in real time. ElevenLabs works for us as a service provider under contract, in Zero Retention Mode, so it keeps nothing once the reply is generated. Its agreements with the AI model providers it uses prohibit them from training on the data.
AI can get things wrong, and safety flags can miss things. Flags are there to help you notice, not to replace you. Besty is not an emergency service.
6. Who we share it with
Only with companies that help us run Besty, under contracts that limit what they can do with it:
| Company | What they do | Where |
|---|---|---|
| ElevenLabs | Generates Besty's replies in real time, keeping nothing afterward | United States |
| Google Cloud | Stores accounts, transcripts, memories and settings | Europe and United States |
| Stripe | Takes payment | Global |
| Our delivery partner | Delivers your order (name, mobile, address) | Saudi Arabia |
| Twilio | Sends your login code by SMS | United States |
| Firebase (Google) | Sends app notifications | United States |
| Apple and Google | Distribute the app | United States |
We may also share data if the law requires it, or if we believe in good faith that a child is at immediate risk of serious harm. If Besty's business moves to another company, that company must keep the protections in this policy.
Your data is stored and processed outside Saudi Arabia, in Europe and the United States. We protect it with encryption and with contracts with each provider.
7. How long we keep it
| Data | How long |
|---|---|
| Voice audio | Not stored. Processed live, then discarded. |
| Transcripts and safety flags | 90 days, then deleted |
| Technical logs | 90 days, then deleted |
| Memories | Until you delete them in the app or close your account |
| Child profile and family settings | Until you ask us to delete them or close your account |
| Your account | When you close it, you have 7 days to undo. Then it's deleted, and it's gone from our backups within 42 more days. |
| Order and invoice records | 6 years, as tax law requires |
Want something deleted sooner? Email privacy@besty.life.
8. How we protect it
Data is encrypted in transit between the device, the app, our servers and ElevenLabs. Stored data and backups are encrypted by Google Cloud. Only named team members can access our production systems.
Only you can change how Besty works. The parent app signs you in with a code sent to your phone. If you set a parent PIN, Besty asks for it before any setting is changed by voice. We recommend setting one.
If a breach puts your data at risk, we'll tell you and the regulator as the law requires. If you think someone else has accessed your account, contact us right away.
9. Your rights
For yourself and your child, you can:
- Get a copy of your data at besty.life/request. We email the account owner a one-time link to download it.
- Correct anything that's wrong.
- Delete memories yourself in the app.
- Delete conversations or a child's profile by emailing privacy@besty.life. Removing a family member in the app hides them but doesn't delete their data.
- Close your account, which deletes everything as described in section 7.
- Withdraw consent or ask us to limit how we use your data.
We reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm who you are first.
If you're not happy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Saudi Data and AI Authority (SDAIA) or the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
10. Cookies
besty.life only uses the cookies it needs to work. There are no analytics or advertising cookies. Stripe may set its own cookies at checkout to prevent fraud.
11. For children (read this together)
Besty is here because your parent said yes, and they're in charge of it. Besty listens when you press the button and talk, so it can answer you. It doesn't keep a recording of your voice. What you say is written down for a while so your parent can see what you talked about, and then it's deleted. Besty only remembers special things about you if your parent says yes. If you say something that sounds like you're sad or not safe, Besty will tell your parent, because they want to help you. Besty never tells strangers about you. If you have a question, ask your parent.
12. Changes and contact
If we make a meaningful change to this policy, we'll tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect, and ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
